Every area seems to have one great supermarket, where everything is premium quality and the prices are appropriately high. In New Orleans it was Langenstein's, which I lived a block away from for a year, so I was always going there to get New Orleans delicacies which are truly great.
In Silicon Valley it was Robert's in Woodside. Also Draeger's in Menlo Park. There were probably others but I lived in both those towns at different times, so they were my go-to places for good eats.
In the Hudson Valley where I live now it's Adams. They have the best produce, and now it's apple time. They have these huge bins of freshly picked local apples. Which creates a problem, which type is the best? So last week I bought one of a each and did a taste test. I don't like too-sweet apples, and love Granny Smith's because they are fresh and sour. But my favorite was, probably forever now is the Macintosh.
This is what the Macintosh I'm going to eat now looks.
